Advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Course Duration: 3 Days

The Advanced GD&T course will explore much deeper into the GD&T applications and will also serve to prepare the students for the GD&T Professional certification exam. Advanced design concepts and applications will be explored, including how to conduct a tolerance stack-up, selection of the proper geometric control to ensure functional design requirements are met and how to guarantee trouble-free assembly. Advanced manufacturing and inspection concepts and applications will also be discussed, including machine setup options and inspection verification methods (gaging vs. CMM) and the tradeoffs associated with each of those methods.
Discussion will include advanced datum options to help manufacturing, floating and fixed fastener calculations, bonus tolerancing interpretations, and the impact of using MMC vs. RFS in assembly function, manufacturing and inspection.
Time for review of customer drawings is included.
